Hi friends,
I installed NomadBSD at my ThinkPad X200 (C2D P8600 4GB Ram 320 HDD 5400 rpm).
I choose ZFS but i fell not good performance and high memory usage.
My use is not profissional, just web browsing, office and light softwares.
Do you recommends a new UFS install?
ZFS takes a lot of ram, but also how it takes it frees it, now well; with UFS there can be improvements and more with only 4 gigs of ram, personally I would, yes.
Please, do you have NomadBSD-oriented statistics on this?
Use of memory is typically to enhance performance; use is generally a very good thing.
Was memory not freed when required?

vfs.zfs.arc.sys_free
vfs.zfs.arc_free_target
From my response to https://old.reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/pvsu2w/-/hect88q/:
https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/536020 there’s a computer with just 1 GB memory and OpenZFS for all filesystems except
/dev
:
- the entire operating system (not just the file system) used less than 46 M memory in single user mode
– and so on.
The FreeBSD Forums post also shares my experience with simple old (low cost) USB flash drives for L2ARC.
