Installing Linux packages

Trying to follow the section in the NomadBSD handbook for installing Linux packages, however I get two error messages:

# service abi start
abi does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup
directories (/usr.local.etc/rc.d), or is not executable

# pkg install linux-sublime
...
[1/27] Installing linux_base-c7-7.9.2009...
Cannot install package: kernel missing 64-bit Linux support
pkg: PRE-INSTALL script failed

Using version 130R-20210508 of NomadBSD.

Try before

# kldload linux64

The NomadBSD handbook suggests using:

# sysrc linux_enable=YES
# service abi start
# pkg install linux-sublime

however an error appears with “service abi start”:
“abi does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup directories (/use/local/etc/rc.d), or is not excutable”

# kldload linux64
kldload: can't load linux64: module already loaded or in kernel
# service abi start
abi does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup
directories (/usr/local/etc/rc.d), or is not executable

For common desktop users I would advice to exploit graphical user interface first — NomadBSD OpenBox Network: Linux Browser Installer GUI: Deinstall, and then Install it again. I had received a similar warning last year, and reinstalling fixed that.

Thanks. Yes, I have been thinking about installing a Linux browser as well. Unfortunately, for my needs I would install Microsoft Edge for Linux, as I find the translation facility is quite useful when stationed in a country where one doesn’t comprehend a lot…
