How do I start vmware in nomad?

I can’t find any information on it. I am trying to run nixos as a vm, but can’t seem to figure out how to start vmware on nomad. There was some discussion about it back in 2020 and drivers were installed in the update in 2021, but it still doesn’t show up in the applications menu.

I know it’s there, I just don’t know how to enable/start it and can’t seem to find any information on it.

Never heard from. The VMwareplayer is for Windows and Linux only.

You can run only FreeBSD as a guest on a VMwareplayer in Windows or Linux.

Here is the chapter in the FreeBSD handbook:

FreeBSD can work as a host for Virtualbox, bhyve and Xen, AFAIK.

Thanks. You are right. Guess I’ll start learning how to use bhyve.

I think you are even better served with bhyve and/or OpenBSD’s vmm(4) instead of VMWare Workstation Player as you get a natively running hypervisor on your NomadBSD box. Oracle’s Virtualbox and Xen are also options under FreeBSD, as @mameko suggested.
