the above ‘statement’ about unionfs is “best effort”! - as I classify my knowledge level as “know enough to be dangerous”! and certainly not developer level!!!
But it hasn’t been corrected, so it might be right 
A small addition to your page is, that geli encryption gets lost if you install to disk. You have to recreate an encrypted /home yourself…
