Audio output very low with latest NomadBSD version & Behringer sound card

Complete beginner to BSD. Running the latest NomadBSD version (plus upgrade) from a USB pen drive (Lenovo IdeaCentre computer) with the volume turned to 100% on the Tint2 speaker icon, speakers turned to 100% (speaker buttons) and USB sound card (Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD) running at same levels as Win 10. Not sure where to go from here. Please refer to the output below:

What does mixer run in a terminal show?

EDIT: Welcome to NomadBSD

Thank you for the reply, and thanks for the welcome. Interestingly, mixer shows:

~> mixer
Mixer vol is currently set to 100:100
Mixer bass is currently set to 50:50
Mixer treble is currently set to 50:50
Mixer pcm is currently set to 75:75
Mixer mic is currently set to 25:25

The DSB Mixer GUI shows mixer volume to be at 100% as well. However, if I run the following, I get…

~> sudo mixer pcm 100
Setting the mixer pcm from 75:75 to 100:100.

This sets the correct volume, but unfortunately it doesn’t survive a shutdown. I have tried running

~> sudo service mixer stop

but that doesn’t help saving the setting through a shutdown and boot. This is as far as I have been able to come (with a lot of help from a Facebook BSD group).
Edit:
File permissions and ownership in /var/db after running ~> sudo service mixer stop are

-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 122 Jan 3 10:56 mixer0-state
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 47 Jan 3 10:56 mixer1-state
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 47 Jan 3 10:56 mixer2-state
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 57 Jan 3 10:56 mixer3-state

The solution that worked for me, was to edit /etc/fstab and remove ,late from the line “/data/var/db /var/db”, add # REQUIRE: mountlate to /etc/rc.d/mixer and then run sudo mixer pcm 100.
