Hi there @user1,

FreeBSD Privacy - One Quick and Easy way…

I hope that helps.

Thank you for that. But is it correct that I need to pay for openvpn?

That I need this subscription first: https://www.ovpn.com/en/features/public-ipv4 ?

tor proxy settings: (from video)

action) root@… : # portmaster security/tor
result) command not found

action) su - pw groupmod wheel -m [user]
result) no result

Can somebody help. Thank you for that.

Sorry, I didn’t meant to confuse you. The instructions on this site shows how to install the openvpn software, which is free opensource software, and how you’d configure it if you intended to use the VPN service on ovpn.com. You can use any VPN provider you like. In short:

  1. Install security/openvpn:
    sudo pkg install openvpn
  2. Use the information provided by your VPN service provider to configure your openvpn client.

Regarding the instructions in the video, the author uses portmaster to build and install the software from the ports tree, which is not necessary. You can instead install binary packages via pkg(8). Here are the instructions using pkg(8):

# pkg install security/tor
# sysrc tor_enable=YES
# echo "net.inet.ip.random_id=1" >> /etc/sysctl.conf
# service tor start
# pkg install net/torsocks

As you seem to be new to FreeBSD, I highly recommend the excellent FreeBSD Handbook.
